  • National Team & Elite Development
  • Mass Participation
  • Events
  • Tourism
  • Sustainability

ACCESS & INFRUSTRUCTURE

Saudi Arabia is a truly unique country, distinct from any other on the planet. Beautiful and diverse, the Kingdom boasts the stunning Red Sea coastline, mountains in the north of the Kingdom and stunning deserts and wadis in the centre of the country. Saudi Arabia’s topography serves as a picturesque backdrop for beautiful golf courses, new and old. As a result, Saudi Arabia has already engaged the world’s leading and award-winning golf course designers and architects, including David McLay Kidd, Greg Norman Golf Course Design and Nicklaus Design. All new golf infrastructure will adhere to the very best in international standards, particularly in relation to the environment with Golf Saudi’s Green Agenda acting as a benchmark for all projects to aspire to. This understanding that we must respect our environment and climate is essential if we are to be able to create and then operate successful and sustainable golf courses for future Saudi generations.

NATIONAL TEAM

Nurturing talent is a cornerstone of the Golf Saudi strategy, identifying the best personnel with state-of-the-art facilities, alongside insight from the world’s best coaches and governing groups. Golf Saudi has been central in developing junior and senior players to create the future talent pool that will enhance the national team and lead to success at international amateur events. In addition, Golf Saudi has established an instructional program and employed in-house professionals to support and enhance the Ladies National Team.

This strategy has been built with a national team structure based around the provision of the world’s best training facilities and industry-leading coaches to establish Saudi golfers on the global stage. Golf is changing and as the sport breaks down barriers to entry with the adoption of new technologies, it will attract a younger audience. So, in preparation for this and to foster future talent, Golf Saudi has begun rolling out a series of junior programmes at golf clubs across the Kingdom. New formats of the game are also being introduced all over Saudi Arabia, with Golf Saudi looking to use indoor simulators, e-golf ranges, adventure golf and Urban entertainment facilities.

MASS PARTICIPATION

Mass Participation forms one of Golf Saudi’s key pillars, with the aim of introducing, educating and entertaining citizens about golf. This will be done through both on and off course programmes to build touch points, through which citizens can hear and learn more about the game before deciding whether to take it up for themselves.

Golf Saudi recognises the importance of creating and developing these modern touch points; at home, at school and in everyday life, to ensure the fundamentals of the great game are ingrained and opportunities are created away from just on-course activities. Strategic development of urban-based practices that focus on entertainment are under consideration, allowing the general public the opportunity to engage with the game at a purely social level. These consumer touch points will be accessible and build interest and demand for second stage development.

SUSTAINABILITY

Building on internationally recognised principles of sustainable development, Golf Saudi aims to make sure that key environmental and social issues lie at the heart of both strategic and delivery decision making – supporting a viable and progressive economy: Making sure that issues of carrying capacity, site selection, cumulative impact and overall scale of golf courses are carefully considered and addressed. This also helps Golf Saudi to make cost savings and resource efficiencies through investment in smart technologies. Future proofing facilities and protecting from external dependencies and risks Ensuring long-term profitability and a positive reputation for the sport. Enabling Saudi Arabia's golf industry to be globally recognised for leading the integration of sustainability into the growth of the sport. Developing innovative approaches and technologies to be pioneered in the growth of golf, which can then be replicated in other relevant sectors and spheres of Saudi economic development, landscape regeneration and community building.
